What words will work for you? Maybe you need a bit of help crafting a regular newsletter? Perhaps you are looking at overhauling your website? Or you want someone to write about the work you and your company do in an interesting way to attract more customers?
I have done all of that and more. I worked as a journalist in Perth and Melbourne, where I wrote and edited almost every newspaper section, including a terrifying year as business editor.
I found my happy place in magazines, first as deputy editor of Sunday Magazine, based in Melbourne, before returning to Perth to edit Scoop lifestyle magazine, followed by a decade at the helm of West Weekend Magazine.
I then worked in comms for a not-for-profit helping First Nations girls finish school, before starting Edit Suite WA.
All of this means I can write about a lot of different things. I work with clients in government and the private sector to create content as varied as they are. I have edited everything from careers guides to award nominations, and written more words than I can count about so many subjects. What can I do for you?
What I do
- Get to know clients so I can tell their stories well in a way that works for them
- Write engaging content for the target market
- Edit for grammar, punctation (don't get me started on the misuse of apostrophes) and common sense
- Turn obtuse, jargonistic and boring copy into interesting content
- Generate stories for websites, newsletters, media releases, EDMs and social media.
- Write books. And edit them.
What I don't do
- Miss deadlines (unless it's an emergency)
- Use A1 to write your stories and pass if off as my own. You pay for what you get.
- Take on work that doesn't feel like a good fit.
- Mess you around. Tell me what you need and I'll tell you if I can deliver it on time and on budget.
- Rip you off. Once you're ready to talk turkey (see Talk to me), you can be assured the price will be fair and reasonable for the services provided.
